5 Things to Do With Your Dog on Valentine’s Day!
Celebrate the most romantic day of the year with the true love of your life: your dog! Here are 5 things to do with your best friend on Valentine’s Day.
1. Explore the Outdoors
Did you know that Hong Kong now has 40 Inclusive Parks for Pets across the city? These are not dog parks, which are specifically designed for dogs and have enclosed areas where they can be off leash, but rather existing green spaces which can now be shared by dogs and humans. If you are planning a romantic stroll along the harbourfront or a nice picnic with your pup, check out this list of pet friendly parks. Remember to always keep your dog on leash, clean up after your dog, respect other park users, and leave the space cleaner than when you arrived. Let’s all help leave a pawsitive paw print so that more parks can become dog-friendly! Check out what are the must have items that protect your dog from the Outdoor Elements.
Hiking in country parks is a great way to let your dogs explore off leash or on a long line. Read on for a list of must-have hiking items including the Ruffwear Web Master Harness and Highwave AutoDogMug!
2. Head to the Mall
If you prefer an indoor adventure, visit one of Hong Kong’s pet-friendly malls! Shop with your dog at The Peak Galleria at Victoria Peak, dine at a beachside restaurant at The Pulse in Repulse Bay, or relax at The Mills in Tsuen Wan. Dogs are allowed to walk throughout these malls but must be on leash. If your pup has a potty accident indoors, remember to soak up any urine with pee pads or paper towels before disinfecting the area. Practice proper etiquette to keep malls welcoming for pets.
Of course don’t forget about Whiskers N Paws retail store! Our 20,000 square feet space offers thousands of handpicked products for your dogs, and includes an outdoor patio for your dog to burn off some energy. Visit us at 10/F, Horizon Plaza, Ap Lei Chau!
3. Trick Training
It’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. Trick training strengthens the bond between you and your dog and improves your communication and relationship! Tricks can be used to improve your dog’s fitness and physical strength, like teaching them to balance on various platforms, or used for cooperative care, such as chin rests and playing dead. Sometimes they just look cute and are a good way to exercise your dog’s brain! Discover our favourite dog training treats including Tricky Trainers with Chicken Liver and Charlee Bear Original Crunch Cheese and Egg Dog Treats.
4. Spa Day
What better time is there to pamper your pup with a grooming session than Valentine’s Day? Help them look their best on this special day by booking a session with our professional grooming team. Services include a thorough brush-out, deshedding, double shampoo rinse and conditioning, nail trimming, paw cleaning and more. Our groomers will provide a gentle and pleasant experience for your dog, leaving them smelling fresh and feeling great! Finish off the day by enjoying a meal together at WNP Pet-Friendly Plant-Based Café Café. Our plant-based menu has plenty of options for humans, and our pooch menu features the Cheesebarker burger for dogs.
5. Movie Night
Finally, why not just stay home and enjoy your time together? Research shows that levels of oxytocin, the “love hormone”, increases in both dogs and humans when we interact in positive ways such as petting or cuddling. Make sure your pups have their “popcorn” ready when the lights go down. So hang out on the couch with your furry friend, watch a movie, and enjoy some treats and fun together!
Happy Valen-dog’s Day!
