Find the right food for your small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters

Timothy hay is the best overall hay for your little furry friends, and should make up approximately 75-80% of their diet. It contains high levels of fibre which is important for healthy digestion, and its rough texture helps wear down your critter’s teeth as they chew.

Teeth of small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters never stop growing, therefore it is essential that they get many opportunities to chew and keep their teeth trimmed. Overgrown teeth can cause pain and difficulty eating and swallowing, leading to health issues. For young critters, alfalfa hay provides higher levels of protein and calcium to support growth and development, however adult animals should not be given too much alfalfa as the high levels of protein can lead to obesity, and excess calcium can cause bladder stones. Although they are all part of the small animals family, rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters have different nutritional needs.

Choose from specially formulated food pellets for your specific small animal to ensure they get a balanced nutrition in every bite. Don’t forget to add an occasional treat to reward your little critter, and enjoy valuable bonding time!
